Weapon Technologies
Energy Rifle
Energy Rifles are the main weapon of most modern Mateys. Once only used by battleships, recent advancements in miniaturization (notably, the creating of the E-Rifle Clip) have allowed them to be equipped on Mateys and support vehicles. Both lightweight and powerful, they have quickly replaced conventional ballistics.
The rifle works by firing a ray of energized particles. These particles react explosively with typical metals, causing significant damage. The particles are provided by an attached E-Rifle clip, while the Matey's reactor charges them before firing.
E-Rifle Clip
Before the creation of the E-Rifle Clip, the only way to gather enough particles for an energy weapon were through giant generators. These generators were far too large to be mounted on anything smaller then a battleship, limiting the use of energy weapons. However, that changed with the creation of the clip. The clip stores compressed particles for use by energy rifles, removing the need for massive generators.
Energy Saber
Energy Sabers use magnetic fields to entrap energized particles, forming a "blade". When the blade bends, the entrapped particles are released directly into the hit object.
Energy sabers use a special E-Rifle Clip. Due to the way an energy saber is used, the clip will typically last longer then a battle will.
High-Output Energy Saber
By connecting directly to a Matey's reactor, the saber can use more power to charge the magnetic field, allowing it to increase in size. This allows the blade to store more particles, and thus deal more damage when it strikes something. This has the downside of draining power faster then a regular saber, however.
VSEC (Variable Strength Energy Cannon)
An experimental weapon, the VSEC uses a brand new particle accelerator to generate and energize more particles then a standard energy rifle. This allows for it to have a finer degree of control over the damage output, however it has the side effect of consuming significantly more of a Matey's power.

Anti-Energy Field
Because energy weapons are based on positively charged particles, if they pass through negatively charged ones, they will lose their charge and become ineffective. The Anti-Energy Field works on this premise, using a generator to gather and emit negatively charged particles around the unit it's equipped on. The field generators require a huge amount of power to operate, so they are rarely found on Mateys. The range of the field is also small, due to the nature of the spreading, and can be easily effected by weather.
Energy Shield
Similar in design to an energy saber, energy shields widen the "blade" around the emitter. This creates a shield of sorts that can be used to deflect incoming attacks, though it is especially effective against an energy saber, due to the magnetic fields.
Dummy System
The Dummy System is an advanced suite of high-res sensors, ECM devices, and holographic projectors which work together to produce false images capable of fooling all conventional sensors. However, these devices also have a high energy requirement, thus limiting how long it can remain active.
