Dodging: The Art of Avoiding Attacks Sometimes, you don't want to (or just can't!) take an attack. This is where dodging comes in. Dodging is generally an action in which the pilot would maneuver his or her mecha out of the way of incoming attacks, though it can also be used to represent attacks just plain missing, or hitting something else. While in Super Robot Wars, dodging is a chance based action, the SimChamber allows you to dodge at any time, but it costs a resource to do so. This resource is the Dodge Pool, which will be covered in more detail in the next post. ------------------------------------ The Dodge Pool is the resource pilots use in battle to avoid attacks. You can think of it as thruster propellent, nearby terrain, or even just plain luck. Whenever you decide to dodge an attack, you lose an amount of DP equal to your Dodge Cost, which is your unit's Agi rating modified by enemy accuracy and your dodge cost modifiers. You can see more details as to how to calculate your dodge cost in the Mathematics thread. The amount of DP a unit has is based on the number of units are in battle. To determine your DP for the battle, determine which side of the battle has the most units (Combined units count as all of the units it's comprised of, and not the combined unit. For example, Super Gundam is considered to be 2 units, while GaoGaiGar is still considered to be only one because it only combines with items). Multiply the number of units on the largest side by 3000. Each side in the battle then gains that much DP spread evenly across all their units. For example, if a Combattler V was doing battle against a Dendoh and a Cell Fighter, the total DP per side would be 15000, because Combattler is comprised of 5 units. During battle, the Combattler would have a pool of 15000 DP, while the Dendoh and Cell Fighter would each have 7500. And that's all there is to the Dodge Pool. Combine: Teaming up to get ahead All machines are made of up smaller devices, all working together. Some mecha, however, take this to another level! This thread will cover the ability of some units to combine together in order to produce a new, more powerful machine. This thread will cover both aspects of this ability, Combine and Dismount ----------------------------------- Combine Combine is the ability of sub units to get together to form a more powerful unit. An example is Combattler V, or G-Falcon Destroy. You can tell if a unit can Combine by the ability Combine in their inherents list, like this: 6) Combine (G-Falcon Destroy): GT-9600-D Gundam Leopard Destroy, GS-9900 G-Falcon This ability means that both Gundam Leopard Destoy and G-Falcon may combine them to form G-Falcon Destroy. But how do you do this? In order to perform a Combine, all required units must be in the battle. That means that, with the above example Combine, Leopard Destroy and G-Falcon must have been deployed in battle, and must currently be on your team. If one of them has been destroyed or removed from battle, then you may not perform Combine. The only exemption to this rule is if some of the required "units" are actually Items. An example of this is GaiGar, who combines with the Gao Machines item to form GaoGaiGar. In this case, the required items do not need to be in battle, but only need to be in your AM. However, when you perform the Combine, the items are considered to be "in use", and thus cannot be used in any other battle until the current one ends, even if the unit were to later revert to it's uncombined form. Combine is declared in your Transform phase, however it is actually resolved in a seperate phase, after the performing unit's team's turn. When resolved, the following things happen:

All units specified in the Combine ability are removed from battle, however they are still considered in use. The combined unit then deploys instantly, and can be targeted by effects right away.
The percentage of HP and EN of all component units are averaged together, and the HP and EN of the combined unit is modified by that amount. For example, if Leopard Destroy had 50% HP and G-Falcon had 100%, G-Falcon Leopard will have 75% HP.
The DP of all component units are added together. For example, if Leopard Destroy had 2000 DP and G-Falcon had 1000, G-Falcon Leopard will have 3000 DP.
All items are transfered from the component units to the combined unit. If the combined unit has less IS then all the component units combined, then choose a number of items equal to the combined unit's IS to transfer over. Once this choice is made, it is retained throughout the rest of the battle, even if Combine is performed again later on.
All pilots in the component units are transfered to the combined unit. If the Combine ability has (Lead Unit) next to one of the component units, the main pilot of that unit is automatically the main pilot of the combined unit. Otherwise, the main pilot of the combined unit is the main pilot of the unit who declared the Combine. If the combined unit has more pilot slots then the component units have, then the extra slots can be filled by classes owned that are not in the battle. The classes chosen are retained thoroughout the rest of the battle, even if Combine is performed again later on.
When combined, all Spirit Commands or abilities which have a lasting effect on the pilots (such as Great Effort) cast or used on the combined unit will apply on all component units should the combined unit separate during battle. ----------------------------------- Dismount Dismount is the ability of a combined unit to seperate into it's component parts. You can tell if a combined unit can dismount by the ability Dismount in their inherents list, like this: 6) Dismount: GT-9600-D Gundam Leopard Destroy, GS-9900 G-Falcon Like Combine, Dismount is declated in the unit's Transform phase but is not resolved until after that player's team's turn. When resolved, the following things happen:

All units specified in the Dismount ability are redeployed into battle, and the combined unit is removed.
The perentage of HP and EN of the combined unit is calculated, and the component units have their HP and EN adjusted accordingly. For example, if G-Falcon Destroy had 75% HP, then when it seperates both G-Falcon and Leopard Destroy would have 75% HP.
The DP of the combined unit is split equally across all component units. If this should cause decimal DP, then the decimal point is dropped. For example, if G-Falcon Destroy had 4005 DP, then G-Falcon and Leopard Destroy would both have 2002 DP, since the .5 is lost.
The items originally on the component units are retained.
All pilots are transfered to their original component unit, including any classes that may have been removed from combat because of lower pilot slots on the combined unit.
However, a unit may only perform Dismount during battle if they performed Combine to form that unit. This means that if you deployed G-Falcon Destroy, you may not perform dismount to change into G-Falcon and Leopard Destroy. Or, if you deployed Dancouga and Black Wing, then combined them into Final Dancouga, you can Dismount Final Dancouga back into Dancouga and Black Wing, but you can't Dismount Dancouga into it's component units.
