In particular, many upgrades were made following the battles with the Colrel, Britova, and Gable, in which Garrod was forced to his limits. When Kid was finished, the Double X turned out to be a very powerful and versatile machine and would prove to be welcome additions in the coming battles. Weapons Overview: (Weapons not listed receive no change.) DX Shotgun: Kid modified the Double X's Buster Rifle following the battle with the Gable, in which the Double X and Airmaster Burst's beam arsenals were found to be largely useless. The new rifle would have a second barrel that fired small scattering shells and would prove useful when in close range against multiple units, or if Garrod ever ran into a Beam Deflection Field again. (It's a Shotgun!) Hyper Beam Sword Full Output: A modification Kid made was to let the Double X's Hyper Beam Sword feed off the Double X's reactor, increasing its power dramatically. To prevent drain on the unit's reactor, Garrod used this ability sparingly. (Same idea as ZZ Gundam's Hyper Beam Saber, though not as powerful as that one.) G-Boost Hammer: Kid took the Double X's G-Hammer and modified it. Several Thruster units were installed on the actual hammer itself, putting a little bit of extra power behind the weapon. (Basically, I want this to be the same as the original Gundam's Gundam Hammer.) Divider: Kid realized the Double X had the same failing as the original Gundam X, that is lack of conventional power. To remedy this, and in what was probably the most difficult undertaking of the whole project, Kid gathered the parts to replicate the Divider Shield that he had made from the original Gundam X. This would provide the Double X with both additional firepower, as well as some added speed. As an added bonus the Divider would prove to be a better shield than the small metal plate Garrod haad previously used as well. (Divider stuff.) Microwave Beam: Reusing a technique he once employed against a mercenary battleship, Garrod activates the Satellite System calling for the microwave beam from the moon. However, instead of allowing the Gundam to store the energy for the Satellite cannon, he allows the microwave beam to hit the ground causing a massive explosion in the surrounding area. (T MAP weapon that uses the Satellite Cannon's charge. Probably shouldn't be useable in space, since the beam wouldn't impact on anything.) Freeden Formation: An attack used by Garrod, Witz, and Roybea while in their respective Gundams, first employed against the Frost Brothers. Witz barrages the enemy units with fire from his Buster Rifles, Roybea opens up with his various ranged weapons, and Garrod fires the Divider. Then while the enemy is still recovering from the barrage, Garrod and Roybea rush in with their melee weapons and make a few quick strikes. Equipment Overview: Strengthened Armor: While modifying the Double X, Kid took the opportunity to stregthen some weakpoints in the Gundam's armor, making it a bit more durable. (HP boost.) Generator Modifications: Another small modification Kid made was to reroute some of the power systems in the Double X. This was helped by the fact that the Flash System was no longer taking up space in the unit. This allowed the Double X's reactor to operate more efficently, giving the machine a much greater operational time. (EN boost.) Passenger Seat: Tifa Adill had expressed a desire to fight with Garrod. The Freeden's crew knew this was important to her, as she was usually quiet. Beause of this, Kid managed to make a bit of room in the cockpit, and installed a passenger seat for Tifa, so that she may fulfill her wish. (Unfortunetly shortly after the Double X's modifications were completed, Tifa was kidnapped and taken into space, forcing Garrod to mount a daring rescue attempt.) (SAMW: 2 yo.) Flash System: Though Tifa could theoretically activate the Flash System for Garrod, the Freeden crew's earlier experience with G-Bits in the ocean had left the Freeden crew a bit jaded towards them. Additionally, the Freeden had no G-Bits of its own to use. Therefore Kid removed the Flash System from the Double X in order to maximize the unit's efficincy. Additional Thrusters: In additional to the Divider shield, several additional thrusters were mounted on the Double X's legs, increasing the maneuverability of the unit greatly. (DC mod.) G-Falcon Combination: Though it wasn't learned until Garrod went into space, the Double X was capable of docking with a 7th Space War Era fighter called the G-Falcon. The G-Falcon would provide additional firepower and speed to the unit, however the Double X had to carry the Divider, as the G-Falcon was incapable of docking while the Divider was attached to its back. (G-Falcon version.)
